Adding a video is an easy way to create a more engaging Qvest page. A short video increases participation rates. The purpose of the video is to have an important ambassador, endorsing the Qvest and encouraging participants to contribute. There is absolutely no need for fancy productions. In fact, short videos made on a phone perform the best.

🖼 Videos shot in landscape look best in the Qvest interface.

💡 We recommend that your video is between 30 and 90 seconds long.

To upload a video, navigate to the Qvest Page editor. Select the Topic tab and click the "Edit Qvest Page" button:

In the Qvest Page editor you edit the Purpose section by clicking the edit button next to the section heading:

Open the video upload dialog box by clicking the upload link next to the "Video" field:

Then select your video file for upload. There are two ways to do this: 1) Drag and drop your file from a separate window onto the drop-zone in the upload dialog box or 2) Click the drop-zone in the upload dialog box and follow the prompts to locate and select your file:

Once your file has been selected the upload will start immediately. At this stage you simply have to keep the window open and wait for the upload to finish. The waiting time depends on the speed of your internet connection. A 1-minute video transferred over a typical internet connection will take less than a minute to upload:

When the transfer is complete the progress bar will disappear and we will start processing the video to optimize it for streaming. This usually takes less than 10 minutes. You can close the upload dialog box, and even the browser window, while we process the video:

If you navigate to your Qvest Page while the video is being processed you may see a large black placeholder box. This is normal and is simply because the video is not yet ready for viewing:

After a few minutes you can refresh the page, and if the video is done processing you will see a large preview thumbnail and you can start playing the video:

If the placeholder box remains for over an hour, try removing the video and uploading again. You remove an uploaded video by editing the "Purpose" section again and clicking the trashcan icon next to the video field:

Qvest supports all common video file formats as long as your video file is smaller than 500 megabytes. If you have any issues uploading your video don't hesitate to contact us.
